Day of Prayer for the Armed Forces - 6 November 2008
Many of our sailors, soldiers and airmen continue to fight in ongoing operations far from home. Others are under considerable pressure closer to hand and many families are facing loss and uncertainty ........ An invitation to join us to pray.

Military Chaplaincies
	Royal Navy Chaplaincy Naval Chaplaincy offers a wide variety of ministry that includes operational appointments at sea, in Capital Ships, Escorts and Submarines; with the Fleet Air Arm and with the Royal Marines. Chaplains also serve in the Military Hospital Units, in Naval Bases and in Training and Shore Establishments.
	Army Chaplaincy Army Chaplains provide spiritual leadership, moral guidance and pastoral support to all soldiers and their families, irrespective of religion or belief, in order to meet their needs, nurture and develop them.
	Royal Air Force Chaplaincy The RAF Chaplaincy Web Site gives you the opportunity to meet chaplains at work and play, to discover their very human nature and their very high aspirations for the spiritual and moral wellbeing of Service personnel and their families.

	Armed Forces Christian Union The Armed Forces Christian Union is the only military Christian fellowship in Britain involved with all three Services. Its focus is to prayerfully support and serve all members of the British Armed Forces.
	Naval Christian Fellowship The Naval Christian Fellowship (NCF) is an Interdenominational Fellowship which provides support and encouragement to Christians and those interested in the Christian Faith within the Royal Navy and other Navies of the world.
	Soldiers & Airmens Scripture Readers Association The ministry of the Scripture Readers is conducted normally on a one to one basis. They meet with individuals and befriend them, seeking to earn the right to tell them about all the Lord Jesus Christ has done for them.

	Naval, Military and Air Force Bible Society Naval Military & Air Force Bible Society provides Bibles, New Testaments and Christian literature to Chaplains, Christian Fellowships, Missionaries, Scripture Readers and other individuals working with British, Commonwealth and Foreign Armed Forces, Cadet Corps and Merchant Seafarers’ Missions throughout the world.
	Alpha For Forces Alpha for Forces has been run on military bases throughout the UK, on operational deployments and onboard ship. Courses can be run by the Chaplaincy or by servicemen and women of all ranks. Increasingly Alpha for Forces is running within the armed forces of other countries around the world.
	The Cornelius Trust The Cornelius Trust is aimed at developing the Christian faith of (primarily but not exclusively) serving members of the UK Armed Forces and their dependents by providing grants to enable them to attend Christian holidays and conferences.

International Organisations
	Association of Military Christian Fellowships AMCF is a group of international military Christians who desire to be men and women of faith like the Roman officer Jesus commended in Matthew chapter eight. Our goal is to serve Christ and share Him with others while also serving our countries our nations’ armed forces.
	Accts MMI Working to see Military Christian Fellowships and Chaplaincies established throughout the armed forces of countries in Africa, Europe, South Asia and the Middle East. ACCTS in the US: www.accts.org
	Flame International Flame International is a Christian ministry with a passion to reach out with God’s love to broken and hurting people in the poorest countries of the world and to see nations walking in forgiveness and reconciliation.

Christian Military Welfare Organisations

	Sandes We are a Christian outreach who with God's Grace, have served Him through the Armed Forces since 1869. The material and welfare needs of the troops have changed during that period but the spiritual need will always be the same.
	Echos ECHOS is a formation of Independent Welfare Organisations, who have provided welfare and services to the armed forces of the respective countries, for many years. ECHOS' aim is to provide a 'Home far away from Home' for soldiers performing their duties in very basic conditions.
	Mission To Military Garrisons Providing a welcoming and friendly environment promoting the Christian ethos to men and women of Her Majesty's Forces in the United Kingdom and abroad.

	Royal Sailors' Rest RSR, often known as Aggies, is a Christian charity that provides 'people, places and projects' in support of the Royal Naval Service. The work has continued for the last 130 years.
	Red Shield Defence Services For many years The Salvation Army has offered a variety of services to military garrisons both in Germany and the United Kingdom. Over the last few years our services have been increasingly called upon to provide non-alcoholic leisure facilties in military training establishments where there are younger military personnel who are not permitted to drink.
	Church of England Soldiers', Sailors' and Airmen's Housing Association CESSA Housing Association has 206 flats in the Portsmouth/Gosport area for letting on assured tenancies to former military personnel and their spouses, partners, widows or widowers who are over 60 years of age. Parents and children of service personnel of the same age are also accepted, as are former Reserve Forces and MOD civilian employees.
